Shannon & The Clams

Shannon & The Clams

I’ve been a fan of this band since I was twenty. I saw Shannon was performing her solo work at out of our friends Jacumba Hot Springs bath house I told my hubby we had to go.

That night we witnessed a very special moment between Shannon and a bumblebee. I reached out to her online about the moment to give her further context as to why that moment was kismet. And that’s how our relationship took wind.

Not long after that show, the band announced their tour. I was excited to see they were playing a show the day before my birthday in San Diego. I reached out to Shannon to see if I could adorn their stage with flowers. She was more than happy to give me the honor. With just a few snapshots of possible band outfits, I chose a primary color palette. I wanted it to be wild flower-esque. Something you would find around the edges of a farm in a dream. The record they were touring was about Shannons loss of her fiancee. His family ran a bean field and there was a song dedicated to that field. That’s what I drew my inspiration from.

The night the show happened my husband and I quickly realized we would be setting up in front of a huge audience. I just acted as if no one was there while my hubby took cover behind the curtains. Thankfully he took the opportunity to catch videos of the set up. Once the flowers were staged we got to enjoy the show and hear Shannon give Kiwi Florals a shout out. Such a magical moment!

I wish I had access to the professional shots and took more photos. Mind you this was super early into my career so a lot of lessons learned.
